Meanwhile, members of the House of Representatives from Kaduna state have faulted the Nigerian Senate for declining to approve the $350m World Bank loan facility being sought by the state government.

Channels TV reports that lawmakers who cut across the APC and PDP said they backed the loan plan of the Nasir El-Rufai administration because they believe it will boost infrastructural development in the state.

The lawmakers alleged that the Senate’s rejection of the loan was political and said the three senators from the state who are supposed to put the interest of the people above their personal interests were abusing their powers.

But the chairman of the Senate committee on local and foreign debt, Senator Shehu Sani, fired back at the Kaduna House of Representatives members, insisting that no amount of blackmail against him and his colleagues will make them endorse the loan request.
