Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has revealed he is feeling "afraid" ahead of his return from injury for the World Cup.

The 26-year-old has been out of action since February but is expected he will be ready to feature in Brazil's preparations for the forthcoming tournament in Russia.

Neymar admitted he is a little nervous about what is set to be a crucial few months in his career when he spoke to Jornal Nacional about his comeback.

"I want to lose this fear as quickly as possible so I can make the World Cup," said the PSG star.

"People have always been cheerful during my stay in Brazil and this has helped me on a daily basis, with the tension, but I can't stop a million things from happening in my head and yes, I'm afraid!"

The former Barcelona man conceded the injury has left him in a "difficult moment," and he said, "nobody is more anxious than me and nobody is more afraid than me."

After making a big summer money move from Barcelona to Paris for a world-record fee, Neymar has showed no signs of feeling the pressure with the French side.

He quickly settled into life in the French capital and it is no surprise he was named the best player in Ligue 1 for the 2017/18 season.

Neymar has a remarkable record for his country playing 85 matches and netting 53 goals in the process.

At the 2014 World Cup, he was the shining star for Brazil before a back injury ruled him out of the semi-final clash with Germany, which the Selecao lost 7-1.

Neymar was key to Brazil's qualification for the 2018 edition as they became the first team to book their place in Russia.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported about Neymar's frustrations concerning the rumours surrounding his future with PSG.
