BREAKING: Anger, frustration in full display as APC lawmakers lament over loss of party tickets

- The plenary of the House of representatives on Thursday, November 8, was characterised by frustration, lament and anger

- Most APC lawmakers were regretting over their failure to secure their seats after the primaries that did not favour them

- They blamed the party's national leadership and governors as being responsible for their woeful lot

Anger and frustration were obvious during the plenary on Thursday, November 8, at the House of Representatives following the failure of most lawmakers to win a returning ticket from their various political parties.

The display or regret and grief were kick-started by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who were accusing the ruling party's national leadership as the architect of their plight, Vanguard reports.

The lawmakers also vented their anger on APC governors, describing them as ‘tin gods’ who hijacked the party machineries during the primaries to favour their chosen candidates. The aggrieved lawmaker claimed that internal democracy is nowhere to be found in the party.

They therefore raised alarm over an impending doom that may befall Nigeria’s democracy if the National Assembly continue to tolerate the excesses of those they claimed have continued to glory in deceit in contradiction to the dictates of the electoral act and the country's constitution.

These comments from the lawmakers came after a motion from Honourable Abubakar Chica of APC (Niger state) which alleged an affront and subversion of the electoral laws during party primary election.

Chica mentioned Niger as his example, claiming that deliberate moves were made by the power brokers in the state to deny himself and others ticket.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that three aspirants for the APC from Daura/Maiadua/Sandamu federal constituency of the House of Representatives, on Thursday evening, October 4, rejected the party’s primary poll to elect a candidate for the 2019 House of Representatives election.

Legit.ng gathered that the aspirants Alhaji Daura Salisu, Alhaji Aminu Jamu and Alhaji Kabir Abdullahi, speaking at a press conference in Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari's hometown alleged that a candidate was imposed on them by the Katsina state government and “the party machinery.”
