Messi drops to 3rd in most international goals scored behind Ronaldo and Indian star

- Lionel Messi has been beaten by India's Sunil Chettri on the international goalscorer's chart

- Chettri has now scored 70 international goals following India's 4-2 loss to Tajikistan making him second

- Ronaldo is still number one with 88 goals in 158 matches as Messi settles for 68 in 158 caps

Lionel Messi is now the third highest goal scoring player on the international scene after he was overtaken by India's Sunil Chhetri recently.

The 32-year-old currently has 68 goals from his 136 caps but following Chhetri's brace in India's 4-2 loss to Tajikistan, the 34-year-old now has 70 goals in 109 appearances for his country.

Chhetri is now behind Cristiano Ronaldo who has 88 goals in 158 matches for Portugal including his hat-trick against Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League.
