Tribunal upholds Senator Ekweremadu’s victory

- The election of Ike Ekweremadu has been upheld by the election petition tribunal in Enugu

- According to the tribunal, the APC candidate Juliet Ibekaju-Nwagwu could not prove her case

- Ekweremadu is the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District on the platform of PDP

The electoral victory of Ike Ekweremadu, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Enugu West Senatorial District, in the last election has been upheld by the State and National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.

The panel in its judgment said that Juliet Ibekaju-Nwagwu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), could not prove that there was substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act in the conduct of the election, The Sun reports.

Meanwhile, had reported that Senator James Manager of the PDP was sacked as the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the Delta state capital, on Saturday, September 7 nullified the election of Senator Manager.
